VIRginia International Raceway Races into 2020

VIRginia International Raceway, one of North America’s most iconic road courses, is gearing up for its 2020 season, which includes 10 thrilling spectator events from April through November. The action-packed year features several returning fan-favorite races, including the NASA Mid-Atlantic HyperFest, IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, Heacock Classic Gold Cup and more.

Kicking things off is the Hoosier Tire SCCA Super Tour April 10-12, where drivers of all classes racing towards the SCCA championship can test their skills. May is also stacked with excitement, with the MotoAmerica Championship of Virginia taking place May 1-3 followed by the beloved HyperFest May 15-17. Known as an “Automotive Amusement Park,” HyperFest is an annual family-friendly motorsports festival featuring road racing, drifting, karting, live music performances and much more! Fans can get in on the racing action with the chance to put their own cars to the test on VIR’s 3.27-mile road course including 17 challenging turns and 130 feet of elevation changes.

August brings one of VIR’s biggest races of the year – the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Aug. 21-23. The fan-favorite weekend features non-stop action, family-friendly entertainment like a skydiver performance and car corrals, as well as high-speed racing. The headlining Michelin GT Challenge race, where drivers reach top speeds close to 190 miles per hour in high-end sports cars, is something racing fans do not want to miss. Just a few weeks later, vintage cars and sportscar legends will take over the track during the Heacock Classic Gold Cup weekend Sept. 24-27, featuring the SVRA Vintage Race of Champions Charity Pro-Am race.
