a clearing in the brush with a narrow trail
to a makeshift circle of rocks with twigs piled in the middle create a campsite for a pair of brothers.

surrounding them…
carrying them…
away.
songs of the summer.
songs of OUR summer.
respite
the two most beautiful words
(according to Henry James)
in the history of the English language are…
“summer afternoon.”
that does not change.
it still awaits each evening.
just look and it is there.
III.
there was:
love.
friends.
family.
